정준호, 정웅인, 정운택… 정씨 트리오의 또 다른 코미디를 빙자한 아쉬운 영화입니다. 차라리 처음부터 무간도에 대한 오마주라고 주장했더라면 더 나았을텐데, 왜 굳이 특별하고 색다른 이야기가 있는 것처럼 떠들었는지 의문입니다.

정준호는 외모만 보면 대한민국에서 잘생긴 남자 배우 중 하나입니다. 하지만 영화 속 인물을 연기할 때나 영화 외적인 활동을 살펴볼 때, 때때로 그의 머릿속이 텅 비지 않았을까 의심이 드는 경우가 많습니다. 배역에 대해 깊은 고민을 하고 진정한 배우가 되려고 하는지, 아니면 무명의 설움을 한풀이라도 하듯, 껍데기만 화려하게, 사람들에게 인기를 얻고자 하는 것인지... 이미 그 정체가 드러난 것 같지만, 혹시라도 아니기를 바라는 마음에서 이렇게 글을 써봅니다. 적어도 배우라는 역할을 맡은 이 남자가 진지한 자기 성찰을 하고 있다면, 영화제 사회를 보러 나와 동료 배우 신현준과 장난을 치지는 않았을 것입니다.

김동원 감독은 2006년 투사부일체로 데뷔한 이후, 정씨 트리오를 다시 기용하며 시도했지만, 아쉽게도 자충수를 둔 느낌입니다.

영화 제목은 오히려 장면 속 액자에 걸려 있는 ‘가오만사성’이라는 문구가 더 어울릴 것 같습니다. 그리고 영화를 다 보고 난 후 기억에 남는 것이라면, 여배우 윤해영의 입에서 나오는 신랄한 욕설뿐이라면, 과장이겠죠?

"이런 명란젓 같은 년, 니기미 XX, 갈아버려…"
"포경수술... 당신도 하고 와, 이번 기회에, 더러워 죽겠어... 이런 새우젓 같이 생겨가지고..."

차인표 주연의 크로싱에서 인민군 대장으로 나오는 천국장 역할의 이름 모를 배우와 무게 중심을 잘 잡은 박상민은 그나마 기억에 남습니다. 그러나 극의 후반부에는 힘이 빠져버렸습니다. 김동원 감독, 다음에는 어떤 선택을 할까요? 과연 다음 작품이 있을까요? 이 영화는 몇 명이나 관람했을까요?

The trio of Jeong Jun-ho, Jeong Woong-in, and Jeong Un-taek once again delivers a comedy masquerading as a subpar film. Honestly, it would have been better if they had just admitted from the start that it was a tribute to Infernal Affairs, at least it would have sounded cooler. Why make it seem like there's something particularly unique about the story?

Jeong Jun-ho, who is often considered one of the better-looking actors in South Korea, always raises doubts when he portrays characters in films or in his personal activities. I often find myself wondering if he is truly dedicated to being a thoughtful actor, or if he is just trying to bask in fame, like someone who is desperate to shed the struggles of anonymity and is only interested in being recognized by the masses. His identity seems to have already become apparent, but I still hope I'm wrong. At least if he truly possessed the self-reflection expected of an actor, he wouldn’t have played around during a film festival and engaged in trivial banter with fellow actor Shin Hyun-jun.

Director Kim Dong-won, who debuted in 2006 with Fighter, takes a risky step by re-casting the trio, who have lost their momentum. However, it seems like a self-inflicted mistake.

As for the movie's title, the phrase "Gao Man Sa Sheng" displayed in a frame within one of the scenes would have been a much more fitting title. By the end of the movie, the only thing that stands out in my memory is actress Yoon Hae-young’s witty expletives coming from her beautiful lips. Is that an exaggeration?

There were moments where the character of Heaven’s General, portrayed by an unknown actor in Crossing (starring Cha In-pyo), and the solid performance by Park Sang-min in a supporting role stood out, but even those couldn’t prevent the film from losing momentum in the second half. What will Kim Dong-won do next? Will he even get another opportunity to create a film? How many people actually watched this one?
