하하하 감독 : 홍상수 두 남자가 막걸리를 나누며 최근 각자 다녀온 통영에 대한 추억을 이야기합니다. 홍상수 감독의 팬으로서 말씀드리자면, 그의 영화가 늘 그렇듯 소소한 재미로 가득 차 있어 저는 전혀 지루하지 않았습니다. 하지만 마블이나 DC 코믹스 영화에 익숙한 요즘 세대가 만약 홍상수 감독의 영화를 처음 접한다면, 아마도 이렇게 말할지도 모르겠습니다. "이것도 영화냐? 돈만 날렸네! 그리고 제목이 뭐? 하하하? 아이고~~ 별 의미없다!" Hahaha Director: Hong Sang-soo Two men share a drink of makgeolli while reminiscing about their recent trips to Tongyeong. As a fan of Hong Sang-soo's films, I found this one, like his others, filled with subtle charm and small moments of humor, so I never felt bored. However, if someone accustomed to Marvel or DC Comics movies were to watch a Hong Sang-soo film for the first time, they might say something like this: "Is this even a movie? What a waste of money! And the title? Hahaha? Oh, come on~~ that doesn’t mean anything!"

딸에 대하여 김혜진 장편소설 참 흥미롭지 않은 이야기를 읽었습니다. 늙은 치매 환자를 돌보는 어머니와 동성애자인 딸의 이야기로, 군데군데 감각적인 문장이 눈에 띄긴 했지만, 현재 시점에서 전개되는 문장의 방식이 지나치게 진지하게만 느껴져 흥미를 반감시켰습니다. 그래서인지 마치 조숙한 작가를 꿈꾸는 어린아이의 습작을 읽는 듯한 느낌을 받을 수밖에 없었습니다. 현재 위대한 개츠비 를 읽고 있습니다. 뉴욕의 여름 열기를 묘사하는 장면들이 등장하는데, 그 묘사만으로도 뉴욕 여름의 끈적한 더위가 생생하게 느껴졌습니다. 반면, 김혜진 작가의 딸에 대하여 역시 여름을 배경으로 하고 있으며 곳곳에서 여름을 묘사하고 있음에도 불구하고, 정작 이야기를 읽는 동안 여름의 분위기를 전혀 느낄 수 없었습니다. 오히려 매섭게 볼을 때리는 차가운 바람을 정면으로 마주하는 듯한, 스산하게 말라버린 겨울의 풍경만이 떠올랐습니다. 이는 아마도 스콧 피츠제럴드와 김혜진 작가의 필력 차이에서 비롯된 것이 아닐까 생각합니다.
